Seeking an experienced Technical Writer to take ownership and responsibility

for the content development and delivery of a specific medical instrumentation software product. The writer will be given opportunities to use the simulated instrumentation hardware.

 

Qualifications:

 

Experience delivering the documentation in accordance with the project specification and agreed upon schedule. 

 

Self-starter with excellent research skills to work on the existing manuals for the software product.

 

Strong skills documenting complex software-based features.

 

Expert Word skills for printed manuals using specs.

 

Experience conducting interviews with subject matter experts. The SMEs are located globally so a lot of flexibility is required.

Prepare conceptual documentation which consists of approximately 45 Help topics of varying length that describe concepts, tasks, and the user interface of the product. The documentation will be written following the documentation plan including the formats, sample topics, and style guides provided by the client.

The ideal candidate has intermediate level familiarity with SQL Server. The writer will refer to the functional specifications as the primary source for the documentation that he/she produces. Supplementary sources may include access to the product under development, and access to the program managers, developers, and testers on the client product team.

The candidate should also be familiar with authoring and content management tools.

Looking for a Sr. Technical Writer to work onsite in Redmond with the possibility of working offsite 1-2 days per week.

Ideal candidate will have:
  • SharePoint 2010 admin experience; will consider a strong 2007 candidate.

  • Experience with content delivery.

  • Technical understanding of external and internal audience deliverables; how to write to each of these audiences.

  • Writing for a technical audience about installation, deployment and configuration of SharePoint.

  • Understands server technologies, SharePoint farm foot print, network server admin, ITPro docs.

  • Will consider someone who has other admin experience such as SQL or Exchange but must have senior level experience.

  • Someone who can take ownership of the docs and follow through to the end.
